After falling off a 35 foot roof and breaking my back for the third time, I was told by the doctors that I had to wear a full-body corset for the rest of my life. They said that I would not be able to participate in sports, and once my pain was bad enough, they would see if surgery would help. I was 23 years old and devastated. Coming from a very traditional medical background (DHMC’s intensive care unit is named after my uncle), a chiropractor was last on my “go-to” list. However, it was to a chiropractor I went. I threw away my body corset six months later! I knew at that point what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I haven’t regretted it for one day! When I am not in the office, I enjoy spending time with my wife and four daughters, hiking, mountain biking, skiing, boating, and enjoying the amazing beauty and friends found in the greater Plymouth area.
On November 1, 2016, my husband, Steven, had a full spinal fusion. Two additional surgeries later, Steven was left with unbearable pain that kept him on his back most of the day, disabled and relying on opiates for pain relief. I spent many hours researching Failed Back Syndrome and what and who was offering relief. I came upon Calmare’s Scrambler Therapy. We flew to Boise, Idaho last May for the 3-day trial where Steven had 24 hours of relief after the first day. We knew he would be a candidate for the full 10 days of therapy.
In July of 2023 Steven went back to Idaho for 12 days and came home a new man! Growing up on Newfound Lake in New Hampshire and now living here was Steven’s
lifelong dream. When he arrived home from his trip to Idaho he was once again swimming to the raft and diving in the lake! Knowing how many people in New England could also benefit from this life changing therapy, we decided to open the Chronic Pain Relief Center of New England. We are pleased to be working with great partners and look forward to helping many more people live a life with less pain.
